A show repositioning/reconsidering relegated echelons of society and the lived experience of time.
	Kent-based artist and designer Catherine Sibley received her BA (hons.) in Graphic Design and Applied Art from Camberwell College of Art, London. She went on to achieve a distinction in her Masters of Fine Art from the University of the Creative Arts, Canterbury. She has exhibited in London, Kent and previously at Gilbert and Clark in a group show titled Edge.

Sibley works across media, exploring the existential contours of human experience through non-typical modes of perception, and the neurological bases and interpretation of stimuli and sensation. In Recently, Sibley brings together two disparate pieces of work in a resonant dialogue. ‘Triptych’, rendered on discarded interior doors, is a portrait of local homeless people residing in doorways. Layering together traditions of Renaissance fresco, religious iconography and comic-book panels. Sibley elevates these so often ignored people from their position as street furniture to the alter of serious contemplation. For the creation of ‘Triptych’, Sibley has innovated new technologies with old techniques, undoing and remaking the gloss and precision of the digital image into a tactile analogue assemblage.

Originating from the group show Time at Maidstone Museum, the film Kairos investigates our relative experience of durational moments. Kairos explores how we imagine ourselves passing through time, examining the multiplicity of moments that shape our existence as temporal beings. Through the lens of Kairos, ‘Triptych’
becomes a complex meditation on the lived experience of time for those living on the edges of society.
