A high-energy and eclectic seven-piece, Police Dog Hogan combine fiddle, banjo, mandolin, drums and guitars with knockout four-part harmonies in an exuberant fusing of country, pop, folk, and rocking urban bluegrass.
The Sunday Times described them as “wonderful”; the Telegraph named them one of its ‘favourite new bands”; Radio 2 called them “a band to watch” and veteran DJ Johnnie Walker praises their gigs as “just a really good, fun time”.
Eliot James, MPG Breakthrough Producer of the Year in 2011, produced the band’s recent second album, FROM THE LAND OF MIRACLES. James has also produced albums by the Kaiser Chiefs, Bloc Party, Noah and the Whale and Two Door Cinema Club.

Guardian journalist Tim Dowling plays banjo, occasionally chronicles the band’s adventures in his magazine column and contributes to the literate and superbly crafted songs of main writer and vocalist James Studholme. Adding to the band’s considerable musical pedigree is Michael Giri, former drummer and percussionist with Nigel Kennedy and The Lilac Time.
Founded in 2010, the band is now gigging in earnest, buoyed by a rapturous reception at festivals last summer, with appearances on major stages at Cornbury, Camp Bestival, Larmer Tree and Kendal Calling. In a short time, and with a string of sold-out shows, the band has gained a reputation for blistering live performances.
With Laura Cantrell and Emily Barker & The Red Clay Halo, they headline the three-day showcase for the newly formed Americana Music Association UK at Kings Place, London, on February 14th 2014.
