Halifax songstress Amelia Curran is excited to be heading back to the UK with the eagerly awaited re-lease of her new album They Promised You Mercy re-leased on Jan 26th, 2015 on Blue Rose Records.

Amelia will also be touring the UK in January 2015, kicking off at the prestigious Celtic Connections in Glasgow on Jan 30th 2015 (Full tour details right)

They Promised You Mercy is the newest collection of songs by Amelia Curran, Canada’s master contempo-rary songstress. On this album, Amelia’s knife-sharp lyr-ics find peace and even cheerfulness amidst lush lay-ers provided by producer Michael Phillip Wojewoda’s nuanced studio vision. The album is a poised, focused and consummate work that show-cases Amelia’s singular songwriting talent. They Promised You Mercy raises the lyrical bar yet again with its unrivaled eloquence.

Amelia’s acclaimed 2009 album Hunter Hunter won her the much sought after Juno Award for Best Roots and Traditional Album. With her 2013 album, Spectators, Curran returned to the scene with ten tracks that raised the bar on her signature lyricism, but also pushed be-yond the folk boundaries that have defined her previous releases. The Telegraph’s Martin Chilton describing it as ‘a strong, quietly forceful album’, whilst Maverick Magazine awarded it 4*’s and declared it, ‘intriguing, diverse, and brimming with passion’.

Since the release of her first album in 2000, Curran has an impressive discography which each year have gained a number of East Coast Music Award nominations including ‘Folk Recording Of The Year’, ‘Female Recording Of The Year’, until her album triumphed over all and won the much desired Juno Award.

Amelia Curran was born to write music, a songwriter by trade, but a writer at heart, she be-lieves language is everything.
